Redshift, Corona, and beta agent 3.34

Posted on June 18, 2019 in Blog News

We just finished rolling out several updates to the farm. In no particular order:

  • Redshift 2.6.43 was deployed to all 3dsmax, Maya, Cinema 4D, and Houdini instances
  • Houdini 17.5 was deployed (but only accessible from agent 3.34 and up)
  • Corona version 4 was deployed to all 3dsmax and Cinema 4D instances
  • Greyscalegorilla’s Light Kit Pro was updated to version 3.1 in all Cinema 4D instances

Beta agent 3.34 was released yesterday, and it comes with a number of fixes and new features. First, the agent now has a built-in agent ID management window to allow you to easily switch between accounts. Houdini 17.5 was added as a job destination option. Jobs can now have their budgets, Power, and auto-Power modified during the job run, now that auto-Power has been added to the list of things that can be changed during rendering. This agent now has abilities to create and/or automate the creation of output folders for jobs, so be sure to check that out, too.

There were a few small fixes in the agent as well, including the agent self-updating only when idle. Some output unzipping errors are now correctly reported back to the farm so the agent can display relevant information in the status window. An agent crash when hitting cancel during a login popup was also handled.

Beta agents don’t self-deploy. You have to choose to have them installed. You can do so by clicking the option in the news section on the Home tab of the agent. Let us know what things, if any, aren’t working for you. Remember, you can always revert to the stable agent simply by closing the agent and deleting the beta version folder from the “versions” directory within the agent install directory.

Enjoy!
